1- Leading trade unions including INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, UTUC and LPF have given call for ‘Bharat Bandh’ demanding raise in minimum wage and other facilities.
2- In Uttar Pradesh, over 18 lakh state government employees joined trade unions strike by major trade unions protesting against the central government’s anti-labour and economic policies.
3- Siliguri Municipal Corporation Mayor Ashok Bhattacharya was arrested along with 15 other protesters by West Bengal police.
4- 18 crore workers of government and private sectors are on streets.
5- CITU workers hold protest rally in support of their demands in Kolkata.
6- Trade unions strike crippled life in Tripura as shops, business establishments, markets, banks and financial institutions, government offices and educational institutions were closed due to strike.
7- Delhi Nurses Union held protest outside Safdarjung Hospital demanding better wages.
8- Around 90 per cent workers at BHEL’s plant in Tiruchirappalli have not reported at work in the morning shift. Vizag steel plant is 100 per cent closed. At some places there would be instances of ‘Rail Roko’.
9- Protesters vandalised a NBSTC bus in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal during strike.
10- Kolkata Police has deployed around 3000 personnel to check any untoward incident in and around the city during nation-wide strike called by central trade unions.
